Installation
The Mini Maxx V2 is a delete-only tuner. The emissions systems must be removed after installation.
Make sure there are no emissions-related error messages on the dash. Those messages can only be cleared with the truck one hundred percent stock.
Always install the tuner before installing any hard parts.
The procedure
Step 01
Connect
Connect your battery charger, then connect the tuner. Once it powers on, follow the on-screen instructions until the installation is complete.
Step 02
Start the engine
After the tuner has been installed, start the engine and let it run for fifteen to twenty seconds to verify there are no error messages or check engine lights.
Step 03
Remove the DEF, DPF and SCR exhaust section
Once you have confirmed there are no issues, physically remove the DEF, DPF and SCR section of the exhaust. Leave any sensors in these pipes and disconnect the connectors.
We recommend packing the connectors with dielectric grease and taping them up to prevent future corrosion.
Step 04
Remove the EGR system
The EGR system must either be fully removed or at least disconnected.
Ford and RAM: unplug the throttle valve in the fully open position.
2018 and newer RAM
The bypass cable comes with a replacement OBD box and USB cable. Replace the OBD box that comes with the Mini Maxx with this bypass version, the one with the red stripe. You will only use this OBD box on 2018 and newer RAMs.
Connect one end of the USB cable into the port on the side of the OBD box, and the other end to the green connector behind the dash, into the fifth port down on the connector closest to the driver's seat.
Do not update the Mini Maxx with BD software. Those instructions are only for their tuners.
